Aunt Luna's Boop (Color)

At home in the Crystal Empire, as she is about to demonstrate a magic spell for Sunset Shimmer, Princess Cadance violently sneezes. It accidentally causes the two to swap bodies for the next 24 hours. The two are freaking out over the mishap but little Flurry Heart takes it all in stride and enjoys her mommy and human cousin acting like each other. Shining Armor steps up to fill in for Cadance at royal appearances and duties, and Princess Celestia can't stop laughing at the spell going haywire. Again, it's just for 24 hours.

Any thoughts on my developing this into an actual fanfic story?

This is a repost of a previous status update from a few days ago. It apparently doesn't show up entirely on mobile devices, so I am posting it here in its entirety in case anybody missed it.

Original Post:

Last week I joined the war against COVID-19, also known as coronavirus. On Tuesday I started a new job with the Hawaii Department of Health as an administrative clerk in its Disease Outbreak Control Division. My job is to enter data on COVID test results from hospitals and labs across the state to help track and monitor the virus's spread across the Hawaiian Islands. Although I am not directly interacting with patients, I am as much on the front lines as are the first responders, doctors, nurses and technicians.

Because of the critical nature of my job, I am afraid my deviations are grinding to a halt for a while. It's a long commute across the island of Oahu, and when I get home I am too exhausted to do anything other than sleep. Drawing anything right now is second to helping save lives in Hawaii. I apologize to those who follow my artwork and are eager to see the next My Little Pony: Two of a Kind installment and want to see one soon, but right now Hawaii needs me. Literally. I hope to get back to it once this madness dies down.

Addendum (fancy way of saying Update):

I might go back to some of my old black-and-white line drawings and color them. It's a lot quicker, easier, and better on my new schedule to do that than come up with entirely new drawings or continuing MLP fan stories already in progress.

A question for My Little Pony fans, based on the storyline for a new fan comic titled "A Momentary Lapse in Time" starring Princess Twilight Sparkle:

Due to inhaling magic burnoff after casting a powerful time-lapse spell at Canterlot High School to demonstrate to Dr. Maud Pie's students how wood petrifies into rock, Twilight Sparkle wakes up the next morning 20 years older and as big as Princess Celestia, as in the My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic series finale "The Last Problem". The accidental growth spurt freaks her out and she's scared to be seen outside her castle in Ponyville. All her friends and students reassure her she's now on the outside what she's always been on the inside, but Twilight is still feels embarrassed, timid and wants to hide in a cardboard box big enough for her new body. Poor Twily!

How would you encourage Twilight that she's still the Princess of Friendship everypony loves and supports, just a lot bigger and with magic flowing hair? Write your answers in the comments section below. I will read them and incorporate some of the best responses into the story as part of how Twilight's Canterlot High students (including the Equestria Girls), Princess Celestia, Starlight Glimmer and Spike encourage and counsel Twilight to come out of hiding and accept everypony's unconditional love for her.

My Little Dolly: Opry is Magic (Color)

Dolly Parton with My Little Pony's Mane Six, Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer at the Grand Ole Opry.

Well, it's been quite a week in the world of entertainment. Among other things, the animated television series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic ended its history-making nine-year run with a bang. The last three episodes were aired together in a 90-minute "supersized" series finale on the Discovery Family channel on October 12. For those who haven't seen the finale yet either on TV, DVR or YouTube illegal upload ;) , I won't give away any spoilers except for my recent deviations clearly marked SPOILER! for at least another week. What I will say is that I thought it ended on a happy and peaceful note while others were very unhappy with it based on the fanart they created.

At the same time the FIM finale was airing on the East Coast of the USA, country music icon Dolly Parton was performing at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, Tennessee celebrating her 50th anniversary as a member of the long-running radio program (since 1925) that made country music famous and put Nashville on the map. Becoming a member of the Grand Ole Opry is one of the genre's highest and most prestigious honors, and to become an Opry member is to be "welcomed home" into a family of music legends. Despite being 73 years old, Dolly did not disappoint with an energetic, perky and fun performance, making jokes about her age and physique, admittedly forgetting the words to some of her older songs, and getting the audience on their feet with singalong renditions of "9 to 5" and "I Will Always Love You", the latter made famous by the late Whitney Houston.

I started listening to the Opry out of curiosity during the summertime, and I've been hooked ever since. And since Dolly's anniversary concert and the FIM finale were on the same night, I put together the above deviation with Miss Parton drawn Equestria Girls style. The ponies and Sunset traveled to Nashville to celebrate with Dolly, and they got together onstage for this picture. Well, it ain't necessarily true, but it makes a good backstory, so there! :)

Princess Sunset Shimmer, a sick filly. :( by NewportMuse
Eeyup, I'm sick again.

Someone at work came in with a cold and I caught it. The moment I first felt that ominous tickle in my throat on Tuesday afternoon, I started fighting it with Vitamin C, DayQuil and plenty of liquids. An unannounced annual fire drill in my 30-story office building on Thursday put me outdoors in the Hawaiian heat and humidity for about an hour. It sucks, but I think I dodged a bullet. This cold hasn't been as severe as the other ones I had earlier this year. The quick action probably did the trick.

So as part of taking care of my body and nursing this cold, I've voluntarily isolated myself in the big, air-conditioned Hamilton Library at the University of Hawaii all weekend. And that explains the surge of My Little Pony fan comics since yesterday. I gotta do something besides sleeping all day, so I got creative and finally put two pony comic books into free PDF downloads, "A Bitter Taste" and "A Night @ The Prom". I also rediscovered two unfunished stories from before my last cold in July and will attempt to finish them in the same format as I did these last two ones--black and white with color-coded talking balloons for each character.

I have noticed a lot of anxiety on the internet and the press for the big finale of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic on Discovery Family in October. It's going out with a bang and still on top after nine seasons and a total of 221 episodes. It's not as big a fan anxiety as I've seen for the finale of Game of Thrones, but it's still understandable for a children's cartoon that unexpectedly became a pop culture phenomenon. I remember having a similar anxiety when I was in college the time The Smurfs was suddenly cancelled in 1989 after nine seasons as well. The NBC television network dropped it after a controversial Season 9 format change to a time-travel theme caused a massive ratings drop. In the case of our pony friends, though, it's going out on a positive note and on its own terms.

And I have no reason to suddenly stop drawing ponies. Even though I am fleshing out a storyline for a new original cartoon called Tall Tales based on American folk heroes like Pecos Bill, Slue-Foot Sue and John Henry, I still love writing and drawing new adventures with the equines of Ponyville and their Equestria Girls counterparts together in Princess Twilight Sparkle's classroom at Canterlot High School. The fandom is too damned big and strong, and fans still love my silly little doodles, so why stop?

That being said, the two PDF comic books now available are "A Bitter Taste", in which Sunset Shimmer copes with being bullied and snubbed by the mean food critic Zesty Gourmand, and "A Night @ The Prom", which sees Twilight Sparkle chaperoning the big Canterlot High School prom and seeing a second chance after missing her own prom as a filly. They began to be downloaded almost instantly after I posted them, so I hope y'all enjoy these stories.

Also, I appreciate a few kind thoughts and words as I deal with this horrible cold.
