 : Princess Celestia, you're like... the only mother figure I've ever really known.

: Thank you, Sunset. As your guardian, that means a lot to me for you to tell me that. I care for you, protect you and love you like you were my own daughter. And that's because... in a way, you are my daughter. And I love you. Don't let anypony tell you otherwise. Not even yourself.

: (crying) ... I love you too, Princess.

This is a colored version of a My Little Pony fan art drawing I inked and completed on August 12, 2017. In my fan art, Sunset Shimmer of the My Little Pony: Equestria Girls stories is born a human and as a teenager Princess Celestia becomes her adoptive mother, as explained in my previous piece MLP Two of a Kind: Forgiven.

After living in an otherwise loving orphanage her entire life, Sunset has finally been adopted, and by the most powerful pony in all Equestria at that. She lives at the Royal Castle in Canterlot and attends Canterlot High School on the outskirts of the capital city. Her "Princess Mom" has hooves, walks on all fours, raises the sun each morning and has a well-known weakness for yummy cakes, but Sunny loves Princess Celestia very much. The Princess of the Sun loves and affirms Sunset's humanity, and will defend her honor against anyone who says she is unworthy or less than, be they pony, human, dragon or villain. And on top of that, Sunset has Princess Luna as a royal aunty and Princess Cadance as a caring pony cousin. And oh yes, she LOVES foal-sitting Princess Flurry Heart.
